Using add_rewrite_rule with a subdomain

I'm having some trouble figuring out how use add_rewrite_rule() to rewrite my wordpress URLs to include a subdomain.

My website contains URLs like:

http://ift.tt/1L05eRj

Which I would like to be rewritten to

http://ift.tt/1VxPqiR

I have very poor understanding of RegEx so I have no idea how to do this. After the Wordpress Codex on add_rewrite_rule() it looks like it's impossible to change the base URL using the add_rewrite_rule() function. Am I wrong?
